NORML will be holding their annual Aspen legal seminar over the long weekend of June 1, 2 and 3, 2017, at the Gant Hotel.
On June 1, NORML Deputy Director Paul Armentano will address the latest science of marijuana; Oceanside, CA attorney David Branfman will lecture on the latest developments in Intellectual property rights in the legal Marijuana industry; Former US Attorney Bill Nettles from South Carolina will discuss his efforts to legalize the medical use of marijuana in a southern state; and Denver attorney Rachel Gillette will discuss the challenges of representing a client in an IRS audit, including form 8300 audits.
On June 2, San Francisco attorney Kyndra Miller will address the issues arising in financing a cannabis business; San Diego attorney Michael Cindrich will focus on ways to discredit prosecution witnesses in cannabis cases; Denver attorney Sean McAllister will provide the basics involved in representing state-legal marijuana businesses; Tucson attorney Natman Schaye will lecture on the lessons he has learned from handling death penalty cases; and Richmond, VA attorney David Baugh will discuss the ethical implications of Brady and Giglio.
And on June 3, Alexandria, VA attorney Marvin Miller will lecture on the use of innocent assets to pay for an appeal; Boulder CO attorney Marc Milavitz will discuss the ethical considerations when dealing with a difficult client; Baltimore attorney Billy Murphy will discuss the considerations when representing a client in a “Black Lives Matter” case; and San Antonio, TX attorney Gerry Goldstein will wrap up the seminar with his annual discussion of the latest 4th Amendment decisions.
There will be several social events for networking with friends and colleagues in a marijuana-friendly environment. The opening reception will be held at the Gant on Thursday evening; a NORML benefit dinner (catered by Chef Chris Lanter from Cache Cache restaurant) on Friday, and a cookout with live music on Saturday afternoon at Owl Farm.
